It's no surprise that the staff here at The Silent Ballet love instrumental music. Unfortunately, not all of us have the luxury of living in areas of the country (or world for that matter) where that genre is very prevalent. Few things are more frustrating than listening to your favorite band's albums over and over again yet never getting a chance to see them live.
For the truly devoted out there it has become common to take frequent road trips or vacations to far off lands in order to get the opportunity to see a really great show. That can get pretty costly, and it can be hard to justify spending money to travel in order to see one or two bands.
The Silent Ballet came up with the idea of selecting prominent cities around the world that are known for their instrumental offerings and organizing a show there that would allow fans who aren't from that area to make a single trip and see a whole slew of amazing bands that region encompasses.
Thanks largely in part to the help of our friends in Beware of Safety, our inaugural show will be held in Los Angeles, California, and is entitled "West Without A Word"..
Exactly how many bands will you get the chance to see at this show? 3? 4? 5? Try 10! We've put together two shows in two nights with 10 of the best bands from both California and Arizona. The dates, venues and bands are as follows:
Friday, March 14th - Pehrspace
El Ten Eleven
The Littlest Viking
The Drift
Signal Hill
Saturday, March 15th - The Cocaine
Beware of Safety
Hellas Mounds/Empires
Form and Fate
North
Arc of the Aurora
If that doesn't make you just want to cry then you're not human. This is going to be a truly awesome experience for anyone who is able to make it out. Spend a few days hanging out in LA, and be a part of an event that reeks of DIY spirit.
The cost of the show will be $15 for both nights. That will also include a free poster for the show that will make you seem extra cool. We ask that if you are going to make the trip from out of state, please email us (wwaw@thesilentballet.com) and let us know, as we'd love to know where you're coming from. Everyone that travels to the show will be treated to a free beer on us!
