On Travel are not one of those bands that instantly jump out at you as being incredible pioneers of the ambient genre. By pushing a slow-burning tension, they are setting themselves (or rather, himself) up to be fully under-appreciated... what is apparent here however, is that the pure emotive force apparent in 18 short minutes is more than a lot of half-hearted ambient artists have achieved in their whole careers.

Residing in South Africa, Jason Sutherland makes music that is both deep and complicated. Music that, on the face of it would seem to be nothing more than constant drones. The real beauty becomes apparent when the sound is given chance to bloom, for the listener to become used to the sonic washes, and takes the initiative to listen past them and into the real heart and soul of the pieces. The debut release Remove Your Head From That Lonely Crown (available from their Myspace page) shows obvious influence from the Hammock school of ambient with heavy dollops of Brian Eno-esque compositional arrangement and cannot fail to impress given the time to bloom.
